Clear Mountain Bank officials have announced that Harry Hayes has been named Vice President, Director of Consumer Lending.

In this new position, Hayes will oversee the delivery of all consumer lending products and services, including mortgages, home equity loans, consumer loans, and credit cards, to enhance the bank’s overall consumer lending customer experience. 

“Harry has been a valued member of our team since he began his career with Clear Mountain Bank in 2006. He has been instrumental in streamlining the bank’s mortgage process while focusing on providing improved and efficient services for our customers and we are confident that he will do the same with our other consumer lending products. By aligning all consumer-related lending under Harry’s leadership, the bank can best position itself to provide consistent and seamless customer experiences across all consumer lending platforms,” states Clear Mountain Bank president and CEO, David M. Thomas.

Hayes has more than 18 years of experience at Clear Mountain Bank and most recently held the position of the bank’s Vice President and Director of Mortgage Origination. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in business management from West Virginia University. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and holds a Wharton Leadership certificate. He also earned the Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation through the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and was the first to earn this designation in the state of West Virginia. In 2020 Hayes was named to the ICBA “40 Under 40: Emerging Community Bank Leaders” list by Independent Community Bankers Association. The award recognizes the nation’s up-and-coming community bank innovators and influencers who represent the future of the industry.

A native of Kingwood and life-long resident of Preston County, Hayes is well-known for his dedicated service to the Kingwood VFD and the Preston County Buckwheat Festival. In 2023 he held the position of General Chairman of the annual festival. Beyond his exemplary service to the Buckwheat Festival, Hayes also serves on the finance committee of the VFD, of which he is also a member. Additionally, he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Preston County Economic Development Authority.


Hayes is a former member of the Kingwood Lions Club and the Mon Valley Habitat for Humanity board of directors. In 2022 he received the Brian F. Thomas Community Service Award. This award is presented annually to a Clear Mountain Bank team member who demonstrates a true commitment to community service, philanthropy, and volunteerism. In his spare time, he coaches youth basketball for the West Preston Youth Basketball League.
